Las Vegas Area Council is a local council of the Boy Scouts of America and serves Scouts in Nevada, California and Mohave County, Arizona. See also Scouting in Arizona.

History Edit

Formerly Boulder Dam Area Council, Las Vegas Area Council serves Scouts in Nevada, California and Arizona. The Boulder Dam Area Council (#328) was started in 1944 with fewer than 500 youth. The former council offices were in cramped spaces on the UNLV campus, but in 2002 they moved into the new facility. The Donald W. Reynolds Scouting Resource Center was dedicated on Friday, May 3, 2002. The new facilities are located at 7220 South Paradise Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89119. The name of the council was changed to the Las Vegas Area Council in 2005. It currently serves youth in Clark County, Nevada and Nye County, Nevada of southern Nevada, southeastern California, and Mohave County, Arizona in western Arizona.

Districts Edit

Each District coordinates scout leader training. activities and other resources for community based scouting programs. This council is divided into 2 Districts:

  4. London Bridge District
  5. Mohave District
  6. North Star District
  7. Silverado District
  8. Spring Mountain District
  9. Sunhawk District
  10. Virgin River District

Council Camps Edit

Las Vegas Area Council Camps feature many resources for organizing exciting outdoor adventure group activities and are available for rental by scout groups, families and other youth groups. Some camps feature an organized week long campership program during summer months.

  1. Spencer W. Kimball Scout Reservation —located at the base of Mount Potosi about 35 minutes southwest of Las Vegas
  2. Del Webb High Adventure Base —located in the pines and aspens above Kolob Reservoir and Zion National Park in southern Utah
  3. Camp Levi-Levi —located in the Hualapai Mountains southeast of Kingman, Arizona
