Mobile Area Council is a local council of the Boy Scouts of America and serves the Alabama counties of 123. See also Scouting in Alabama.

History[]

The council was formed in 1919 as the Mobile Council. It changed its name to Mobile Area in 1924. In 1926 the name was changed to Mobile and Baldwin Counties, and in 1927 changed back to Mobile Area.

Districts[]

Each District coordinates scout leader training. activities and other resources for community based scouting programs. This council is divided into 4 Districts:

  1. Baldwin District
  2. Choctaw District
  3. Maubila District
  4. Spanish Trail District


Council Camps[]

Mobile Area Council Camps feature many resources for organizing exciting outdoor adventure group activities and are available for rental by scout groups, families and other youth groups. Some camps feature an organized week long campership program during summer months.

The council owns and operates one long term summer camp at the Maubila Scout Reservation. This also servers as a week-end camping, Cub Scout event and training facility. Camp Maubila has 680 acres (2.8 km2) including a swimming pool and private lake.
