Black Warrior Council is a local council of the Boy Scouts of America and serves the Alabama counties of 123. It is located in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and the council's name refers to Chief Tuskaloosa whose name means Black Warrior. In 1925, and again in 1932, the Walker-Lamar Council was formed in Jasper. In 1938 that council was reformed into the current Black Warrior Council. See also Scouting in Alabama.

Districts[]

Each District coordinates scout leader training. activities and other resources for community based scouting programs. This council is divided into 20 Districts:

  1. Chickasaw District - Tuscaloosa County (North of the River), Fayette, Pickens and Lamar Counties
  2. Choctaw District - Tuscaloosa County (South of the River), Bibb County and the City of Moundville
  3. Mountain District - Walker, Winston and Marion Counties
  4. Prairie District - Marengo, Sumter, Hale and Greene Counties

Council Camps[]

Black Warrior Council Camps feature many resources for organizing exciting outdoor adventure group activities and are available for rental by scout groups, families and other youth groups. Some camps feature an organized week long campership program during summer months.
